Photographer: Robert Jr. Whitall

Biography:
Robert Jr. Whitall began freelancing Rock 'n' Roll photography at age 35 and shortly thereafter discovered a liking for the Blues. In 1995, he and Charlie Auringer founded Big City Rhythm & Blues Magazine, and for the past twelve years Whitall has shot every artistic photo cover. He has also contributed to Living Blues, Detroit News, Metro Times and many blues CD covers. Whitall serves on the advisory board of The Blues Foundation and has raised thousands of dollars by donating photos for silent auctions. Whitall has photographed big names Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ray Charles, Etta James, Johnny Cash, and countless others, but some of the most historically significant shots have been compilations of blues musicians for the cover of Big City Rhythm & Blues Magazine. Currently, Whitall is hard at work on the next issue of the magazine and will fervently continue to capture the best of the blues.
