Photographer: Gary Smaby
Biography:
Gary Smaby won a camera as a Science All-Star at the age of 14 and soon after, photography had replaced astronautics as a career aspiration. During his college years, Smaby booked national music groups for campus gigs and eventually shot most of the concerts on a freelance basis. After graduating, he was routinely hired by major record labels to photograph their artists while on tour, often gaining backstage access. Smaby expanded his passion for photography into the entrepreneurial business world and later into venture capitalism.
