Photographer: Charlie Auringer

Biography:
 Charlie Auringer enrolled in his first photography classes after attending live concerts of the Beatles and Bob Dylan in 1964. In 1969, while hanging around a local Detroit record store with other artists and writers, Auringer helped create CREEM magazine. He began shooting local acts such as MC5 and Mitch Ryder, as well as national bands Jeff Beck with Rod Stewart, Elvis, and Cream. When CREEM went national in 1971, he photographed David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones, Kiss, and Alice Cooper. In 1976, Auringer devoted all his attention to design and photo editing at CREEM and published images of the greatest rock photographers in the United States and United Kingdom. Currently, Charlie Auringer remains active in the music scene by designing Big City Blues Magazine and also publishes a community newspaper in his hometown.
